... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from noon today to 10 PM EST this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a lake Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 10 PM EST this
evening.

* Timing... this afternoon and evening.

* Winds... west winds 15 to 25 knots with gusts to 30 knots.

* Impacts... strong winds and rough chop will create hazardous
conditions on area lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

... Fire danger statement remains in effect from noon to 6 PM
today...

A cold front will cross the area this morning with winds becoming
strong and gusty behind the front. Sustained winds by midday will
be between 15 and 20 mph with gusts over 25 mph through the
afternoon hours. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to
around 80 while drier air moving into the region will result in
relative humidity values falling to between 25 and 30 percent.
While fuels will be marginal, the combination of strong winds and
low relative humidity will result in increased fire danger.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn on Saturday. If you do burn... you are advised to use
extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under
these conditions
