Special Statement
Issued: 11:17 AM CDT Sep. 27, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Increased fire danger this afternoon during harvest operations...

West to southwest winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to near
30 mph are expected during the afternoon hours. A dry air mass
will be in place across the area as well with humidity values
below 35 percent in many locations. South of Route 30... humidity
values could drop into the 25 to 30 percent range. While most
fuels remain moist and green... fall crops continue to dry and harvest
operations are underway in many areas. Hot equipment temperatures
may allow for an increased risk of field fires in both harvested
and unharvested fields that could go out of control while winds
remain on the gusty side.

Caution is advised this afternoon while farmers take the
opportunity to harvest before wetter conditions arrive.
