UPdate: Congratulations!
It is the Edwards River which cuts across Mercer county and flows into the Mississippi River at New Boston. This section was straightened years and years ago to promote good drainage and prevent flooding of the adjoining farmland. The Sauk and Fox Indians called it the Big Turtle river. It is a small river by Midwest standards and a stream of this size is usually called a creek in this part of the country. Thanks for visiting and commenting everyone. - Larry
