Good thing I haven't set out the 'maters, peppers, or sweet potatoes yet, nor planted the beans, corn, squash, or melons... still waiting for the weather to become 'warm and settled' as it says on the seed packets.

Lovely color contrasts here Kathy! I see you have critter fences around everything important. What varmints are you guarding against?

Thanks for your comments, Randall and Eileen! I hope the frost didn't do too much damage; time will tell -- it doesn't always show up immediately.

Randall, those fences are to keep my doggies from chewing on or digging among the flowering shrubs, since these are within the area they are allowed to use. You can't see it here, but in some places where the twigs poke through the wires, they're bitten off as if some grazing animal had been there. I guess you would call my dogs omnivorous -- they will eat ANYTHING.

Even though it is a beautiful sight, I know it is a worry that it will "bite" some things. I am so glad we didnt' have a late freeze this year. Puts everything ahead of schedule and the peaches should be great this year.

Thanks for your input, Genie! I hope you are spared any late frosts; my peaches didn't even much bloom this year. But actually, this is about the time of the average last frost in our area; what hurt is that we had about a month of warm, frost-free weather until two weeks ago when we had a sudden frost, and now another. C'est la vie!

Thank you, Cynthia; it did, and so far nothing looks the matter. But there are some things which will not show the damage immediately, like the strawberries, which already got hit once this spring.

We had four inches of snow yesterday. I don't feel so bad now that I see we weren't the only ones freezing. Great shot!
