Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 09, 2008. The Caribbean Sea will remain largely void of any shower and thunderstorm activity Friday. The one exception to this will be along the coast of Central America from Nicaragua through Panama. Some of these showers will press inland through these countries.

A finger of moisture will stretch towards Jamaica, so this stretch of the Caribbean Sea can also expect to experience scattered shower and thunderstorm activity.

A large high pressure system will stretch westward into the Gulf of Mexico, thus dry conditions are anticipated for the gulf, Cuba, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. The Bahamas will also remain dry.

For South America, the tail end of a slow-moving cold front will produce scattered and diminishing showers through the Sao Paulo region.

A high pressure system will keep a wide swath of the continent from Paraguay through northern Argentina and Uruguay dry.

Mild to cool air will filter into Argentina and Chile.

Typical tropical moisture will produce showers and thunderstorms through the northern half of the continent.

Rio De Janeiro will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C), while Buenos Aires will see temperatures in the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C). Santiago, Chile will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C).

Although the first major U.N. relief flight of emergency supplies has finally landed, the criminal indifference of the nation's leaders towards the plight ...
