whirlwind's Blog

Well its over, or just about. The hurricane season of 2006 was a dud and a complete waste. After going thru 2005's hurricane season, one might argue that at least a few canes would make landfall. But no.
Alberto was hope. Early in the season and heading for Florida. A sign that things are off to a good start. Nothing happened though.
Beryl's navigation was off.
Chris was just a fighter. Being on the blogs during this time was just like being in a warzone. Will he die or reemerge as a Cat 4 the next morning like Wilma? He lost.
Debby's nav was off as well.
Ernesto reminded me of Chris. A fighter. He did not get torn up but by the time he got to South Florida, he was nothing more that an average summer thunderstorm here. At least one hit I said.
The other 4 named storms aren't even worth mentioning.
So far 5 storms could have made an impact on us, possible making history once again for the second year in a row. But weather conditions didn't let that happen and too many wishcasters were not casting thier wishes hard enough. So the end result? A hurricane season that will not be remembered as a season of excitement and adeneline rush, but remembered instead of just another year. What happened with this year's predictions? Or with hurricane supporting conditions in the Atlantic? Its a BS. This shows how little we know and how "pro's" are as good as predicting the season as I am about picking the lotto numbers. Roofing and construction companies, like the small one I own here, profited heavily and were saved by the '05 season. But the expensive cars and toys must be payed for. One year wont do it. But what the future holds, noone knows.
Maybe for '07 we should expect minimal activity and be surprised with '05 activity....
