The cooler weather lately has washed away the soupy air and haze that went with it. All is now clear and the colors of late summer and early fall are becoming brighter. The Golden Rod is in full bloom, but it hasn't been matched yet by the purple and white asters but they should be along any day now.
The trees are starting to turn, albeit very slowly. So far it is the small maples and the trees with dead branches that are starting to turn. It is a muted change so far this year and with our low level of overall moisture over the summer, it may be one of those less brilliantly colored fall changes.
The tomatoes are still coming on and my herbs are doing great. I will check in every week or two with updates on the slow advance of the fall weather and the coming of the snow. I love living where the seasons are so pronounced, it is always beautiful to watch and it keeps me in touch with the ever changing wheel of life.
