Hi, folks!
Wicca 101 at 6pm.
It’s dripping and very green. The alder is starting to get leaves. I can tell because not only are the catkins loose and coming apart there’s a fluff starting to obscure the branches. It’s a beautiful tree with those silvery limbs. Pretty soon they’ll vanish, and only reappear in the fall.
It was nice for most of the day, the fog rolling in mid-afternoon, but by the time we headed home it was raining. It was nice to have a break from the rain!
It’s 51F already, but not going to get much warmer if at all. The rain’s supposed to thin out a bit later in the day.
When did the rosebush get that many leaves?
Derek Yaeger was waiting for us at the shop when we got there yesterday morning. He’s finished with Job Corps and drove over from Albany to spend a little time with us a say hi. While he was finishing up he didn’t really have time. He’s working as a flagger, but putting out job applications, hunting something better.
Class went well. We’re ½-way through the history part of Lesson 1. Brea came in and worked with some of the youngsters while we put a movie on. I think it was Practical Magick. Kat was in at 1pm and worked with the young folks on making Talking Sticks. She’s going to be back in a couple of weeks to help them work on those some more.
The Pan-Pagan planning meeting was a little disappointing. Kat stayed and Mary and Willow were there and that was all, so the meeting lasted for maybe 15 minutes. Most of the out-of-town people had problems with coming and contacted me.
Today I’ll be by myself at the shop. Tempus has some equipment repair work today. I’m going to keep going to sorting/organizing, probably boxes, but sooner or later I have to tackle the compounding station….
The shop opens at 11am and we’ll be there through class time. Spring hours, 11am-6pm, Thursday through Monday. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!

Waning Crescent Moon – From 10 ½ days after full moon or rather 8 days before new moon until 3 days before. Best time for beginning introspective magicks that are more long term. Hecate’s Brooch begins at 12:18pm… Hecate’s Brooch – 3-5 days before New Moon – Best time for Releasing Rituals. It’s the last few days before the new moon, the time of Hecate’s Brooch. This is the time that if you’re going to throw something out, or sweep the floors, or take stuff to Good Will, do it! Rid yourself of negativity and begin the letting go process.
As twilight fades, look for bright Sirius in the southwest, Orion's horizontal Belt off to the right (with Betelgeuse above it, Rigel below it), and Aldebaran and Venus farther to the right in the west.
The best time to examine Venus in a telescope is late afternoon or around sunset. It's now a thick crescent 30 arcseconds tall and 40% sunlit, waning and enlarging week by week as it swings toward Earth.

Saille Willow Apr 15 - May 12 - The Willow in the Tree alphabet stands for the female and lunar rhythms of life. She is water-seeking, thriving from preference on the damp margins of lakes and streams or across the low-lying water meadows. 4/16/12 – For someone who has found a dream job and wants some extra oomph to help him get it.
4/13/12 – “I am still very sick and have been for a month now - really need help kicking this on the spiritual plane - depression makes you sick and I am having a hard time climbing out of this hole. I now have bronchitis as well as the ongoing infection - see Dr again on Monday - This is probably the only request for help/healing I have ever made - but I just can't seem to kick this on my own. Whatever you think will help - I feel like I am dying a very slow and painful death.”
4/8/12 – For an older father with various health issues that gave us all a scare a while back. He’s much better, but still needs help to get back to health.
4/7/12 - 9-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. Starting radiation. Family and friends asking help for him and for the children that know him. Update 4/7 He’s doing pretty well and back in school despite the treatments.
3/28/12 – For a man who is terrified he’s going to lose his small daughter to her mother’s new boyfriend. The guy seems to be intent on leaving with her, even if he has no legal right.
3/19/12 – For a high-schooler, crazy for basketball and volleyball who went down with a concussion early in the season. They’re telling her none of her favorite sports for a year, minimum, we’re asking for healing and the strength to deal with not being able to do what she loves for the moment.
